This Privacy Policy explains what personal information OzWorkly collects when you visit ozworkly.com or contact us, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what choices you have. It describes the technologies the site actually uses today.
Who is responsible for your information
OzWorkly is operated by Ozworkly LLC, a New Mexico limited liability company based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States. Ozworkly LLC is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us at info@ozworkly.com. Further company details are in our Legal Notice.
What information we collect
Server logs
The site runs on WordPress and is served by the nginx web server. Like most web servers, nginx records each page request in access logs on our server. A log entry includes your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested, the response status, the referring page (if your browser sends it) and your browser’s user agent string. Requests for static files such as stylesheets, scripts, images and fonts are not logged. Error logs may also record your IP address and the requested address when a request fails. We do not use these logs to build profiles of individual visitors.
Emails you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, the content of your message and any attachments. Please do not send us job applications, resumes or sensitive information.
Cookies
Reading the site does not require cookies. If you do not accept statistics cookies, our pages do not set any cookies in your browser. WordPress sets technical cookies only on the login page and for people who log in to manage the site. There are no public user accounts and comments are closed. Our Cookie Policy lists every cookie and its duration.
Statistics (Google Analytics), only with your consent
We use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google LLC, only if you accept statistics cookies in our cookie banner. Until you accept, the Google Analytics code is not loaded and nothing is sent to Google. If you accept, your browser sends Google Analytics information about your visit, such as the address and title of the page, your screen size, your browser language, details of your browser and device, and random identifiers stored in the _ga and _ga_NTJ77KJWCC cookies, which expire after 13 months. As with any connection on the internet, Google also receives your IP address. We use Google Analytics only for aggregate statistics about how the site is used. We never give Google the advertising permissions of Google’s consent mode: ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization are always denied.
Your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage under the key oz_consent for 13 months. You can withdraw your consent at any time with Cookie settings, at the bottom of every page; we then switch Google Analytics off and delete its cookies from your browser.
What we do not collect
We do not use advertising, tracking pixels, contact forms, newsletters or user registration. We do not accept job applications.
Why we use it
- Server logs: to deliver the website, keep it secure and working, investigate errors and abuse, and understand technical problems.
- Emails: to read and answer your message, handle corrections and privacy requests, and keep a record of that correspondence.
- Technical cookies: to let site administrators log in securely.
- Statistics (Google Analytics), only with your consent: to understand in aggregate which pages are read and how the site is used, so that we can improve it.
Where a law such as the GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interests in operating a secure and reliable website and in responding to people who contact us. We use Google Analytics only on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Where the law requires your consent for any other use, we will ask for it first.
Service providers
- OVHcloud: provides the virtual private server that hosts the website, its logs and its backups.
- Email: emails sent to us are handled by our email provider, OVHcloud.
- Google LLC: provides Google Analytics, which we use only if you accept statistics cookies. Google processes this information, including in the United States, and describes its use of information in its own privacy policy.
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the security of the site.
International transfers
OzWorkly is written for readers in Australia, but neither the server nor the operator is located in Australia. According to the provider’s public network registration, our server is hosted by OVHcloud in Canada, and Ozworkly LLC is based in the United States. If you accept statistics cookies, Google Analytics information is processed by Google LLC, including in the United States. Your information is therefore processed outside Australia, in countries whose privacy laws differ from Australian law. Where applicable, we take reasonable steps to protect it in line with this policy.
How long we keep it
- Server logs are rotated daily. The server keeps up to fourteen previous daily log files and deletes older ones automatically, so log entries are normally kept for about two weeks.
- Backups of the website (its database and files, which do not include the server logs) are made daily and the seven most recent are kept; older backups are deleted automatically.
- Emails are kept for as long as needed to deal with your message and any follow-up: 30 days.
- The Google Analytics cookies in your browser expire after 13 months, and your consent choice is kept in your browser for 13 months.
- Google Analytics keeps user-level and event-level data for 14 months; aggregated reports are not affected.
Your rights and choices
You can ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Depending on where you live, privacy laws may give you further rights, for example under the Australian Privacy Principles, the GDPR or US state privacy laws, where applicable. You can withdraw your consent to statistics cookies at any time with Cookie settings. To make a request, email info@ozworkly.com. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may be able to complain to the privacy regulator where you live, such as the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Advertising and consent (Not active yet)
Not active yet — this section will apply once advertising is enabled. We plan to show advertising provided by Google AdSense. When advertising is enabled, Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure advertisements, and, where you allow it, to personalise them. Before advertising is enabled, we will show a consent message from Google’s consent management platform, which uses the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework, to visitors in regions where consent is required, and we will update this policy and our Cookie Policy. Google’s use of information is described in Google’s own privacy policy. Today, no advertising code runs on ozworkly.com and no advertising cookies are set.
Children
OzWorkly is written for adults and older teenagers who are preparing to look for work. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Pages are delivered over encrypted HTTPS connections, and plain HTTP requests are redirected to HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the way we handle personal information changes, for example when advertising is enabled, and we will change the date below when we do.
